The project I consider the most worthy of my time and effort, is by far, without a doubt, the multigenre multimedia research project. Despite its terribly long name and even longer time we had to work on it, I did not become bored with the work. I learned a multitude of things both conceptually and technically with this project, regarding my topic itself, the technology I used, and the finished project. I chose Arthurian Legend for this project which is a very broad topic. Because it is so large I found it much easier to be able to find an appropriate match of the information I wanted to present, and the method in which to present it.
Manipulating the wikispace to portray my forms of Media was VERY difficult. My genealogical chart was very intricate, and large. With the wikispace format, it was not something I could create on the page. Thus problem #1, turning the physical slip of paper to something viewable on the internet. First I thought to scan it, but as stated above, the overall chart was about 6 pages attached in one large chart, thus scanning was out of the question. I solved this problem with the help of Mr. Crowley who used his camera and flash drive to load a picture of my chart onto the school's system. From there I was able to upload it to the wikispace.
Prior to this project I was not fluent with all the various technology it turned out I needed to access. I used of course, the Wikispace, something I was familiar with, but the aesthetic aspect of this project meant a fair amount of editing and nit-picking with various tools on the Wikispace. For example, changing the font size of my work. A fairly simple task, seeing as I could already change the color and font, but not necessarily the case. Figuring out how to change the font size took about half a period and alot of patience, something I tend to run short of. Working this problem out helped not only the visual effect of my project, but with my knowledge of how to manipulate default settings.
I was very pleased with my final project. It is something I worked hard on, and spent many hours editing, a step usually lost among other efforts. Looking back over my project I feel it is unique, and fun. It takes on a light tone, with a quiz, and charts etc, something that keeps the viewer entertained. With something as complex as Arthurian Legend it is easy to get lost and bored with the technicalities, broad history and intertwining characters. With this in mind, I tried to come up with interesting means of expression. This was actually much more difficult than I anticipated. Originally I had chosen 5 quite different forms of presentation, but with further analysis of my topic and the audience I perceived interested, I think my final 4 were appropriate. I did not really know what to expect with this project, but I am proud of my final outcome, and I consider it well worth my time.
